Young Entrepreneur Grant Winner: Lily Chen, REVAnalytics

Lily Chen Incfile grant winner

Lily Chen is our Young Entrepreneur grant winner.

Lily's inspiration to enter the healthcare technology field came from her grandfather's inability to access quality healthcare in rural China. Due to the lack of an early and accurate diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR), he passed away. This loss fueled Lily's fire to make a difference. She worked for three years to build REVAnalytics, a company that increases healthcare affordability and accessibility through data solutions. So far, the project includes the following features:

  • MyMedicationReminder, a free iOS app for medication management
  • TherapYEET, a therapy buddy app that uses machine learning to provide "human-like assistance" for mental health
  • A web app for DR diagnosis
  • A COVID-19 tracker for New Jersey

Lily believes the key to entrepreneurial success lies in gaining a comprehensive, authentic understanding of your target audience. Marketing and advertising come naturally when you know there's a real, genuine need for your product. Ultimately, Lily believes a successful business "fundamentally understands its customers' needs and efficiently solves them with its product/service."

Lily is preparing for a future as a healthcare tech entrepreneur by leaning on the support of peers and experienced mentors. The feedback she receives after pitching her ideas has been crucial in developing her projects. She continues learning by immersing herself "into the product and research development phases and getting hands-on debugging and hacking experience."

You can learn more about REVAnalytics at its website and download My Medication Reminder here.

Fresh Start Grant Winner: Brian Garrett, HUE

Brian Garret Incfile grant winner

Brian Garrett is our Fresh Start grant winner.

In 2018, Brian packed up and moved 800 miles from home — and in the process, he built an entirely new network of human connections. After meeting a diverse array of people from all walks of life and belief systems, he was inspired to make authentic conversations around food and culture, so he founded HUE.

HUE is a "private dinner series showcasing chefs of color and connecting people to people." It offers a safe space for dining and discovery, whether you're simply looking to enjoy a special culinary experience or make lasting, meaningful connections.

His inspiration for entrepreneurship arose from his desire to build community and support within underrepresented groups, but it didn't stop there. "As I begin the journey in entrepreneurship, I am also inspired by the idea of controlling my own destiny and leaving a legacy," says Brian.
